Members of the House Committee on Homeland Security cybersecurity Bill introduced on Thursday which will to build an entity such as to oversee the sharing of information with the private sector.
Like other cybersecurity Bill offered by GOP House, promote and enhance Cybersecurity and information sharing effectiveness (appropriate Act) encourages private companies to share information about cyber threats but stopped short of the mandated new security standards for the sector is considered vital to national security.
“Cybersecurity is truly a team sport, and this Bill gives the authority required to play the part of DHS in federal Government cybersecurity missions and allow the private sector to play its part by providing information and access to technical support they need to protect critical infrastructure,” said House subcomittee Cybersecurity Chief And Lungren (R-Calif.).
By authorizing DHS to oversee cybersecurity, civil legislation in line with the proposals from the Senate and the White House, but it is not clear how much authority should enforce standard security DHS. Democrats argued DHS needs some authority to ensure beef company protection of their networks.
